Surfacing: Pushing Hands

London's Pushing Hands are quite simply a delight to listen to. Easy on the ears, their laid back, perfectly formed pop songs remind me that there are still some incredibly talented songwriters out there. The band have very graciously given us an exclusive free download of 'He's Still Here' for a limited time.

The hypnotic, intricately layered guitar parts of 'He's Still Here', combined with singer Freddie Webb's delicate vocals remind me of early The Maccabees tracks 'Toothpaste Kisses' and 'O.A.V.I.P', while 'Between Us Now' and 'Cold Hands' are more typical upbeat indie tracks very reminiscent of Bombay Bicycle Club's 'Always Like This'.

Altogether though, Pushing Hands show a lot of promise and definitely have the songs to potentially push them more in the direction of mainstream success. The acoustic version of 'Between Us Now' is accompanied by a stunning promo video directed by Us, embedded below.
