Papa is the "new" side project of Girls’ drummer Darren Weiss. Listen below to 'Halloween To Me', definitely a step away from his garage rock past, which sees Darren turn to more conventional indie sounds.
The track opens with a solid, steady bass line that is present throughout the vast majority of the track and is followed up with an initial melody that is almost a perfect imitation of Muse’s 'Starlight'. Parts of it also really remind me of early The Killers, specifically 'All These Things That I’ve Done', with a bit of The Strokes thrown in for good measure.
Whatever the comparison though, there is no denying that 'Halloween To Me' is a catchy pop song full of laid back summer vibes and is a promising start to a new direction from Weiss. Download the track for free now from Neon Gold.
