It's only been a couple of days since I wrote about the emerging talent of 2forJoy and the beautiful 'Choke'. Somewhat co-incidentally, the full length video of that track has now found its way onto the internet. Both beautiful and subtly brutal, indulge yourselves below.
As I suspected previously, 2forJoy is the guise of Ruth Ivo Powell, aka Ruby Blues, who has been a prominent performing arts figure over the last few years. Turning her hand to music has been no bad move though - quite the opposite in fact, as she weaves a masterful tale of relationship woe in 'Choke'.
The demo of 'Choke' has unexpectedly also popped back onto her Soundcloud page and is available for contrast and comparison below. Another demo entitled 'PDA' can be found in my previous post. In some respects, 2forJoy reminds me of Regina Spektor - if Ruth can replicate Regina's longevity then we can all be pleased.
