Manchester music band

Manchester's The 1975 have gone under a string of different monikers over the last few years, finally settling on their latest name earlier this year. The band have unleashed a couple of tracks from their debut EP, hinting at a gloriously anthemic electro-pop sound. Listen to the songs below.

This is the band's first major release, the 'Facedown' EP, out on Dirty Hit, home to FG faves Little Comets and Benjamin Francis Leftwich. And the signs are promising. There's a touch of fellow Mancunians Swiss Lips on the exuberant lead track, 'The City', while title track 'Facedown' nods its head in the direction of the likes of Passion Pit at their most tender.

We're assuming The 1975 are going to stick with their name this time round, and more importantly, stick with their sound - something that could quite easily cross over to a more mainstream audience. Spread the word. This could be the start of something big.
