I think many music bloggers, often stumble onto musical gems they weren't ever really looking for. (Fans too, of course.) Such was the case with 'Weekend Of Hearts', the newest single from Aussie songstress Tara Simmons. A cascading piece of electro-pop joy, emboldened by Simmons' voice.
We stumbled across Tara Simmons through production duo YesYou, who we recently Surfaced here on FG. Tara has juggled her solo career with being the band's live vocalist in recent times but she's now promoting her new album, 'It's Not Like We're Trying To Move Mountains' - of which 'Weekend Of Hearts' is an undoubted highlight.
A new video has just emerged for the track, which you can watch below. 'Weekend Of Hearts' reminds us a lot of M83 vocalist Morgan Kibby's White Sea project, who we instantly fell in love with. We were similarly floored by the intro to this track, with echoes of White Sea meeting College's 'A Real Hero'. "Then we trusted in something greater, than ourselves and human nature."
