The debut album from London trio Daughter was easily one of our most anticipated of the year - while it didn't quite meet our high expectations, it did offer some gems. The highlight of 'If You Leave' was perhaps 'Youth', a hauntingly reflective tale of past love, which now has its own video.
The track originally appeared on 'The Wild Youth', a 2011 EP, before going onto soundtrack an ITV advert for the Tour de France - which worked tremendously well. The album version of 'Youth' sheds some of its rawness but remains similarly resonant thanks to its poignant lyricism. "And if you're in love then you are the lucky one. Most of us are still bitter over someone." 'Youth' captures much of the best of Daughter, and particularly their incredible ability to create emotionally charged moments.
