Berlin Festival (Berlin Templehof, 6+7 Sept '13) // Words: Saam Das

We rarely cover festivals outside our fair British Isles but the line-up of the forthcoming Berlin Festival warrants notice - with tickets from just €79, perhaps this might be just the end-of-summer getaway you're looking for. And now they've announced the stage times, so you can plan ahead and make the occasional tough decision - Bjork or My Bloody Valentine? Toughie.

As mentioned above, there are some big hitting headliners. MIA (19.00), Pet Shop Boys (20.30), and Blur (22.30) round out the Friday main stage bill. The Bjork/My Bloody Valentine clash happens on Saturday night and whichever you choose, you can follow with a 2am Justice DJ set in the Arena Main Stage. In fact, the Germans party so hard that the DJ sets on both nights go on till approximately 6am. Impressive.

Elsewhere, FG faves BASTILLE open the Main Stage on Friday (14.30) while the hotly tipped Parquet Courts follow not long after (16.00) at the Pitchfork Stage. Which happens to be in an aircraft hanger. (Berlin Festival rather interestingly takes place in an old airport site.)

On the Saturday, Ellie Goulding will be bringing her electro-pop A-game to the Main Stage at 16.15. The hypnotic SOHN makes an appearance at the Zippo Encore Stage (17.30), while you can see if Savages (18.15 on Pitchfork Stage) are indeed as good live as everyone claims. Either way, there are plenty of top acts to catch, with not a patch of mud in sight.
