Surfacing: Puzzles [New Band]

on Tuesday, August 06, 2013
Words: Saam Das

There was once a time when Yorkshire was the height of new music, with bands of the calibre of Arctic Monkeys and Forward, Russia! releasing consistently excellent material. Those days have slowed although perhaps Sheffield synth quintet Puzzles can pick up the slack, as their latest track threatens with its shades (see photo) of Friendly Fires.

The band have actually been around for a couple of years now but it appears that forthcoming EP 'Little Orchard' could be a watershed moment for the band. Certainly 'TMBTY' offers their freshest sound yet - melding synth, math-pop, and brass in a neatly anthemic format. You can also have a listen to fellow EP track 'Butterflies' and previous single/opus 'Escape Music' below.
