Over the last couple of weeks, I've had the pleasure of attending the BFI London Film Festival 2014, which concluded last night with Brad Pitt-vehicle 'Fury'. Perhaps the best surprise of my festival came with an unannounced live acoustic performance following the UK premiere of Communion Records tour documentary, 'Austin To Boston' - featuring many of the artists involved. Watch Bear's Den combine with The Staves, Gil Landry, and India Bourne on the soaring 'Above The Clouds Of Pompeii' below.
'Austin To Boston' covers a post-SXSW tour/road trip across the US by the above artists, along with Ben Howard and Nathaniel Rateliff, in a series of vintage VW camper vans. The documentary captures the highs and lows of the tour, providing a rare intimacy and insight into musicians on the cusp of wider success.
We'll be reviewing the film properly shortly but in the meantime, here's a video that I recorded/edited/camera operated - as you'll notice there's a rather deafeningly positive response to the track. And rightfully so. The original track is also embedded below for you to compare and contrast, along with a trailer for the film.
