The gestation of self-proclaimed 'nerd disco' group International Teachers Of Pop has been somewhat of an atypical one - for example, announcing a prominent support slot for Roisin Murphy's Somerset House gig in London this weekend without having released any music online. But now debut single 'Age Of The Train' has officially been unveiled.

Comprising Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer of producers The Moonlandingz, alongside vocalist Leonore Wheatley from Whyte Horses and The Soundcarriers, the trio's existing pedigree also secured a Marc Riley BBC Radio 6 Music session earlier in the summer. Debut single 'Age Of The Train' had a showing there, and you can also listen to clips of 'After Dark' and 'On Repeat' from the session on the BBC website.

First impressions of the International Teachers Of Pop sound give off a "Kate Bush does disco" vibe, which is no bad thing, with 'Age Of The Train' also seemingly channelling Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' in its instrumentation. Regardless of inspirations and influences, it's a compelling concoction from this burgeoning outfit. We're keenly awaiting the next lesson.
