We've had the pleasure of going to a number of gigs and festivals across the year and across the lands - from our native London to Sussex coastal voyages to Rockaway Beach and The Great Escape, with a cheeky debut visit to Handmade Festival in Leicester. We've collated fifteen of our favourite live sets of 2018 below.

No, you're not dreaming. The Go! Team are indeed back. Ahead of the release of their fourth album, 'The Scene Between', on 23rd March, the Brighton outfit have unleashed the record's title track. The somewhat indecipherable lyrics and lo-fi sound remain, as well as that warm feeling that saw me really gunning for the band to win the 2005 Mercury Music Prize. Alas, they didn't win the prize but they certainly won us over.

The Mercury Music Prize nominations were unveiled earlier this week to their usual debate-generating reception. Back in 2005, I was willing on The Go! Team to win the award with their innovative debut record, 'Thunder, Lightning, Strike' and I was particularly disappointed when Anthony And The Johnsons came out on top. Six years later, The Go! Team released their third album 'Rolling Blackouts' and we have a magical remix of one of the album's tracks downloadable below.

The Go! Team - 'Rolling Blackouts' (UK Release: 31 Jan '11)

The two overriding themes for this album are joy and nostalgia, and therein lies the danger of the path that Brighton-based The Go! Team tread on their third album 'Rolling Blackouts'. The album harks back to a simpler age when Fatboy Slim invented the Big Beat Sound, Mike Myers came up with Austin Powers, and The Go! Team arrived with 'Thunder, Lightning, Strike'.

All those things were good in their time because, after all, the happiness derived from a celebration of a less complicated (even if non-existent) past is a terrific feeling. Especially when combined with candy flipping on Brighton beach at sunset.
