Festival Review: Camden Crawl 2014 [Day One]

Camden Crawl (20-21 June '14) // Words: Saam Das

The Camden Crawl took an unexpected rest last year, returning this year in a new slot in the calendar, rebranding itself CC14. Much was the same as previous years however, with a strong selection of bands across multiple venues in the Camden area - although arguably somewhat reduced in scope. Headliners of the stature of Atari Teenage Riot and The Field being the contradictory evidence. I've always preferred checking out the smaller bands, however, and here's my take on day one of the festival.

In the lead up to the upcoming release of debut album 'Galore', London's THUMPERS have unleashed this splendid mash-up of previous single 'Unkinder (A Tougher Love)' with Girls Aloud's 'The Promise'. The track popped up on Huw Stephens BBC Radio 1 show and while we're still not sure who's behind this tasty slice, THUMPERS have made the mash-up available for download.

When London outfit Thumpers first came into my view about a year ago, it was 'Sound Of Screams' that thoroughly enraptured with its experimental dream pop. The track finally gets a well-deserved single release this October, have a listen to the joyously revamped 2013 recording below.

Live Review: THUMPERS + LULS @ Tooting Tram & Social

I was pretty close to going to medical school in Tooting back in the day. I'm glad that didn't quite work out for many reasons, one of which being the fact that the area isn't particularly inspiring. It's certainly not a complete disaster though and the Tooting Tram & Social is one of London's best pubs/venues. It played host to the fine duo of THUMPERS and LULS for XFM DJ John Kennedy's most recent clubnight.

We've been awaiting news of London duo Thumpers debut single for a while. We're very happy to hear that it's on its way. Even if it's only coming out in February. 'Dancing's Done' is being delivered to us via ParadYse and Kissability, via heaven, for it is a sublime slice of indie dream-pop.

Surfacing: Thumpers [New Band]

I was searching through Spotify the other day and I rediscovered Pull Tiger Tail - the spirited indie trio who never quite got the acclaim they deserved before splitting a few years back. A little bit of investigating later and I found that two of the threesome are now in new project Thumpers. The duo play their debut show in London tomorrow evening but listen below to get an initial taste.
