It might be the second month of 2013 but yes, our FADED GLAMOUR 2012 retrospective still rumbles on. This time it's my top ten albums of 2012 featuring a double appearance of Ben Chasny, and several appearances of great music.

2012. The year that guitar music died. The year that hip hop died. The year that dubstep died. No. None of these things happened. 2012 was as healthy a year for music as any. At FADED GLAMOUR, we picked some of our favourite albums of 2012 and put them together in a list of 25 below. Pop, R&B, hip hop and yes, even guitar music all seem to have thrived according to our top 25 albums of 2012.

Deftones – 'Koi No Yokan' (UK Release: 12 Nov '12) // Words: Simon Opie
Bassist Chi Cheng still lies stricken in a hospital bed suffering from the impact of a serious car crash in 2008. However his influence extends way beyond the four walls of his room and it seems his bandmates have played with an unrivalled intensity since his accident. 2010’s 'Diamond Eyes' was a critically acclaimed return to form and in my humble opinion, 'Koi No Yokan' is even better.

Rock En Seine (26-28 August '11, Paris) // Words: Simon Opie
On Sundays, Parisians dress down, so today’s fashion index was noticeably lower and consequently it was a bit harder to spot the Brits, of whom there were plenty in attendance. On paper the lineup didn’t look as strong as Friday (read review here) or Saturday but I got there early and started with the Crocodiles.
