It's almost perverse that it will only be in 2014 that Manc outfit Patterns unleash their debut album. I first wrote about the band almost three years ago, ahead of their In The City 2010 performance - a festival that sadly seems defunct now. Our first glimpse of the forthcoming 'Waking Lines' is 'This Haze', somewhat reflective of mid-career Foals.

I've listened to at least 100 tracks to compile this list of my top ten singles of October. I could have saved myself the bother and simply declared Lana Del Rey the winner for her widely acclaimed 'Video Games' single. Except we were emailed about her last May and didn't think she was particularly amazing. And still don't. Yet. So instead check out ten other artists who we think are more worthy of your time below.

We were early on the scene when we wrote about a Manchester band called Patterns last October. Since then, they've released their debut EP and signed to Melodic Records. More importantly, they've recorded a blissed out cover of the classic All Saints track, 'Pure Shores'. Pick up the EP for free and download the cover below.

I think we're winding down in terms of my faux In The City festival coverage, only a couple more bands to feature. Today's band are a more serene proposition, formerly known as Elmo Logic, I present Patterns.
Patterns attempt to bridge the gap between post punk and shoegaze by way of a soundscape of dreamy electronica. With only one track available to listen anywhere, that's about all I can give. That offering is the hypnotic 'Induction', which you can download by waiting until the loop finishes on their website. Or just listen/download below.
