Surfacing: Model Railway Exhibition [New Band]

Last week saw the debut release for London three-piece Model Railway Exhibition on Verulamium Records, which is the record label offshoot of Just Music That I Like. Not only is that a blog we heartily recommend checking out but we share similar sentiments for this band and their engaging, beat-laden shoegaze.

There's more than a hint of a Creation Records influence here with a scuzzy sound that has seen contemporaries The History Of Apple Pie garner hype over the course of 2011. Perhaps Model Railway Exhibition will receive similar plaudits in the coming months. We certainly hope so as not much has been said about them thus far. Not nearly enough, anyway.

Debut single 'Jennifer's Brother' is out on cassette tape (100 copies only) with 'Future Perfect' on the flip-side. It is the a-side 'Jennifer's Brother' which most appeals, with its hypnotic juxtaposition of heavenly vocals and onslaught of guitars. A Christmas track, 'Always Winter In Grantham', is also available to listen to on their Soundcloud page.
