The Great Escape festival in Brighton is one of the rare places where I might consider "networking" to be acceptable - it's not even really networking, more drinking and enjoying some top bands with fellow music lovers. One such band were Embers, who we had the pleasure of witnessing live, and can share their huge-sounding forthcoming new single 'Part Of The Echoes' below.

Embers were playing at a showcase called Blog Up, where we also enjoyed sets from IYES, Rhodes and Duologue, albeit with some slight sound issues. The muggy sound didn't dampen a fearsome performance of cinematic rock from Embers, something of a continuation from related previous project Lost Knives.

Considering we were at an event called Blog Up, we obviously chatted to a few of our fellowship - who seemingly universally enjoyed Embers. And Marika Hackman, for that matter, who we highlighted recently in our Bushstock preview. As for Embers, you can get an idea of the strength of their live performance from the video of 'Hollow Cage' above but it is only a glimpse - certainly worth catching live if the recorded tracks appeal.

'Part Of The Echoes' is the follow-up to the similarly powerful double A-side 'Tunnel Vision'/'Sins Unknown', which came out late last year. The new single has more of an anthemic tinge and will be coming out on Killing Moon (who also helped put on the Blog Up event, and are generally ace) on July 8th.
