Highasakite have that seemingly innate Scandinavian ear for a huge chorus, as evidenced by last year's terrific 'Keep That Letter Safe', which came in at #13 in my top tracks of 2015. Their newest single 'Golden Ticket' captures much of the anthemic qualities of the aforementioned track, with some dancefloor aspirations thrown in.
There's an odd juxtaposition on the new track (and indeed the forthcoming new album, named 'Camp Echo' after a Guantanamo Bay detention camp) whereby it mixes sparkling electronic-based pop with heavy subject matter. 'Golden Ticket' references a post-WWII poem, that has been described as having a "funeral blues" vibe. Yet perhaps oddly the spectacular EDM-influenced chorus feels of equal importance.
