I just about remember catching Orlando Seale And The Swell in an unusual private club setting at the Sundance Festival back in 2012. Their folksy baroque pop appears to have taken a significant turn on the evidence of new double A-side single 'Filthy Hope' / 'All Of The Dogs' - a considerably darker proposition. There's a tinge of These New Puritans in terms of the melodramatic nature of the music and the cutting vocals, with a similar nod to Patrick Wolf in one of the less cheery phases of his diverse career. The double A-side single is equal parts grandiose and melancholic, but these are certainly positive qualities. Witness the fearsome combination in person at the band's two night residency at London's Sebright Arms on the 25/26 March.
