As 2020 passes us by shortly, we've been reflecting on the manner in which the pandemic must have arrested the development of many a new band. Even dab hands like Wnderland, a duo comprised of Sarah McIntosh (the driving force behind such stellar acts as The Good Natured, Lovestarrs, and Sazzie) and experienced composer Thom Robson, likely saw their progress stalled. We're still a bit sad about the unexpected demise of The Good Natured but it's always darkest before the dawn etc. Rising again under new guise Lovestarrs, the electro-pop trio delivered a huge sounding debut track in 'Get Your Sexy On', which now has its own video.

I'm pretty excited to hear that The Good Natured are prepping arguably their finest work to date, 'Lovers', for a potential single release. In the meantime, the trio have been going a bit cover-mad, taking on everyone from New Order to One Direction. Their take on Two Door Cinema Club's 'Undercover Martyn' is probably my favourite effort, judge for yourselves below.

I'm not sure I believe in the Valentine's Day hoopla. Until the day someone brings me roses. And by that, I mean a tin of Roses chocolates. A plus side to the day is the generosity of bands and artists in giving away songs for free, as The Good Natured have. Their generosity is time-limited however so pick up the seeping melodrama of 'Raindrops' for free below.

Two bits of good news: firstly, The Good Natured have signed with Parlophone imprint Regal, and secondly, a new EP is on its way. You may remember that we recently featured Sarah McIntosh electro pop troupe in our 11 tips for 2011. There's a decent chance that this is one tip that might come good.

Surfacing: The Good Natured

It feels a bit wrong writing a Surfacing feature about The Good Natured, when she's been on the cusp of a mainstream crossover for at least a year now. But the crossover for 19 year old Sarah McIntosh hasn't quite happened. Yet. In the meantime, she seems to have added a couple of members to flesh The Good Natured out. Which might be handy for avoiding any further (inappropriate) comparisons to Lily Allen and Kate Nash.

The Good Natured's time seems to be coming though, with recent support from the likes of Jo Whiley and Fearne Cotton at BBC Radio 1. They've bigged up new single 'Be My Animal', which seems a little PG-13 (or rather, 12A) for daytime radio, considering it includes elements like a refrain that uses the phrase "kill me now".
