One of the bands I was most excited about in the mid-noughties were synth-poppers White Rose Movement, but sadly they fizzled out after a decent Paul Epworth-produced debut album. Frontman Finn Vine has been plugging away more recently as Genuflex, and has teamed up with Tom Vek to deliver a track together as The Fax, to raise money to aid the current refugee crisis.

It wasn't too long ago that we were all clamouring to hear new material from Tom Vek - 2011's 'Leisure Seizure' laying claim to one of the most anticipated records of the century thus far. (And actually pretty decent, considering.) He's now launching a new project with Dirty Projectors' Olga Bell, with their intriguing debut Nothankyou single coming out on the ace Moshi Moshi label next week.

Last year, Tom Vek returned out of the blue, delivering a fine follow-up to his debut album, in 'Leisure Seizure'. Once again, Vek has re-appeared unexpectedly, thankfully not waiting another five years before unleashing new material. The unveiling of 'You'll Stay' perhaps hints at the arrival of a new album before the year is over.

I guess this is the week for brilliant collaborations - we had M83 and Zola Jesus yesterday and now we have Tom Vek guesting on a track off DJ Shadow's new album, 'The Less You Know, The Better'. With Vek only returning earlier in the year, with the impressive 'Leisure Seizure', who'd have thought he'd be collaborating with DJ Shadow in 2011? Anyway, listen to 'Warning Call' below.

April's been a bit of a ridiculous month for the singles round up with Record Store Day dominating proceedings. Several special, limited edition singles came out on April 16th this year and well, it'd be a nightmare going through all of those on top of my bursting lists of regular singles.
