Little bit behind the times on this one but what better time to write about a song called 'Let's Go' than during the Olympics? "Let's go GB, let's go!" *clap clap clap-clap-clap*. I think you know where I'm coming from here. Perhaps it's a tenuous link but I do believe, in their own way, Matt & Kim have unintentionally captured the uplifting spirit of the Games.
The first single on 'Lightning', the follow up to 2010's 'Sidewalks', which featured the excellent single 'Cameras' - we awarded it single of the month last March. 'Let's Go' is another synth-pop smash, catchy enough to warrant a spot on a Sony mobile phone commercial in the States.
That commercial could be a stepping stone in the career of Matt & Kim to wider success. Regardless, if they can keep turning out pop songs of this calibre, things are looking rosy. And while we're here, we might as well throw in a similarly smile-inducing Will Smith mash-up by Chip Ivory.
