Surfacing: LUH [New Band]

I never quite got on as much as I'd hoped with Manchester mavericks WU LYF, with their obtuse and carefully crafted aura, but it was still a disappointment when they disbanded. The driving force behind the split was frontman Ellery James Roberts, who returned with the incredible 'Kerou's Lament' in June 2013. He's back again, this time with a helping hand.

Roberts has teamed with Ebony Hoorn to create LUH (Lost Under Heaven), and a new track appeared toward the end of last year. 'Unites' feels like an extension of the WU LYF sound, with Roberts' strained vocals nestled amid multi-layered yet sparse sounding instrumentation. There's also a similar continuation in pretentious philosophy, but if it's the way that the creative juices flow in LUH then I guess I'll just have to give them a pass.
