We stumbled upon Iris Gold when poring through The Great Escape Festival line up a few months back. We didn't managed to catch her then but with the Scandinavian-raised artist supporting Matt & Kim in London recently, we got to experience Iris Gold in her pomp.
Gold's genre-mashing style evokes nostalgic memories of the Ninja-led era of The Go! Team, when that band first broke into the mainstream with an unexpected infusion of rap. New track 'Goldmine' bustles along, a hip hop offering that also mixes in whimsy and a punk attitude. It's not surprising that she's been booked to support both Blur and Taylor Swift at Hyde Park this month. Bags of fun.
