Surfacing: ISLES [New Band]

Formerly known as the essentially un-Googleable Sara, London-based quartet ISLES are clearly taking steps in the right direction. Listen below to the moody yet melodic indie-pop of their debut three-track EP.

The swooning female-led vocals and woozy instrumentation bear resemblance to Sheffield's Blessa, and going back further there's elements of The Smiths and The Cure. Despite the jangly guitars, there's a relative melancholy to proceedings, particularly seen on 'Die (A Little Inside)'. The sparse 'By Grand Central Station' brings things together in suitably splendid fashion, aided by a gloriously sweeping chorus.
