We recently wrote about Fuck Buttons co-founder Benjamin John Power unexpectedly working with Editors, culminating in a Record Store Day 2019 release, and his new Blanck Mass track 'House Vs. House' takes us down a somewhat different path. It's 7 minutes and 41 seconds long, for starters. But it sustains interest and excitement throughout, a chaotically brilliant taste of his forthcoming new album, 'Animated Violence Mild'.
Perhaps surprisingly, some of that work with Editors may have rubbed off on Blanck Mass with melodies reminiscent (and perhaps even sampled from!) the aforementioned outfit. There's also shared neo-industrial sensibilities with Sacred Bones Records label-mate Zola Jesus, but the electronic behemoth that is 'House Vs. House' certainly stands on its own foundations - the awe-inspiring sound of worlds colliding.
