A couple of nights ago, I was thinking about what had happened to the release of 'Saviour' by London night-pop duo Alpines. All we'd heard of the track was a short sample many months ago. Unfortunately, it looks like it's been shelved. But as one door closes, another opens and instead of 'Saviour', we have an excellent new single - 'Gold', in collaboration with Craze + Hoax.
It's an impressive return after August's under-par single 'Cocoon', after the debut 'Night Drive' EP delivered a strong statement of intent almost a year ago. This their third collaboration with outside producers/artists, after working with Maya Jane Coles and Tremors - listen to those tracks below.
Production duo Craze + Hoax have worked with Emeli Sande, gaining a #2 hit single in the process, with the track 'Heaven'. Here the producers add a pulsating under-layer to the trippy melodrama of Alpines on the storming 'Gold'. As ever, Catherine Pocock's powerful vocals take centre stage and it's no surprise that Florence Welch has been championing the band. For good reason.
'Gold' will be released on 26th March. Find more at Facebook.
