Fantastical Canadian electro-something duo Purity Ring made a splash last year with 'Ungirthed' and 'Lofticries', their debut 7" release, which came out on Transparent Records. They've recently signed with 4AD (much like FG faves Daughter) and to celebrate the announcement of their forthcoming debut album, they're giving away 'Obedear'. Download it for free below.
The music of Corin Roddick and Megan James traverses many genres, taking on a base layer of electro-pop atop which Megan's otherworldly vocals lie, before adding other elements - such as the sinister backing vocals and hip hop beats of this new track, 'Obedear'. Each of the Purity Ring tracks have thus far proved to be utterly compelling, a strong sign for the debut album, 'Shrines', due out on July 24th.
