Last month, Surfacing alumni Rapids! released a double A-side single which I somehow missed. Seeing as the Bournemouth quintet didn't get a big up in our July singles round up, here's a separate internet pat on the back for 'Comets' and 'House Of Sand And Fog'. Listen to the tracks below.
I'm not hugely into 'House Of Sand And Fog' but perhaps 'Comets' touches a particular personal note as it reminds me of a couple of my favourite bands from the last few years, Kubichek! and Look See Proof, both of whom departed long ago. Oddly, they sound not much alike but that shows how 'Comets' is a glorious hybrid of anthemic rock and math-pop - complete with the best second half to a song this year. More epic synth on future tracks please.
