Listen: Mammal Club - Origami [Final Demo]

I'd love to say that this isn't a goodbye. But sadly, it is. Last month, Mammal Club called it a day. Simply put, they weren't enjoying themselves enough to continue. Their parting gift is a song called 'Origami', embodying their giddy experimental pop style that will be missed.

I never managed to see the band live but I was confident that a time would come when I'd succeed in my quest. Alas not. Although seeing as I first wrote about Mammal Club in Oct 2010, that's more a failing on my part. But along the way, they've delivered such excellent anthems as 'Otter' and 'Painting'.

Their final track, 'Origami', contains a sense of conflict at times - a manifestation that contributed to the band's demise. Otherwise, it's a terrifically hyperactive track, reminiscent of Everything Everything and their similarly unconventional nature. We'll be very sad to see Mammal Club go. See you in another life, brothers.
