Surfacing: Funeral Suits

Funeral Suits are a three-piece band from Ireland consisting of Brian James, Mik McKeogh and Greg McCarthy. If you were looking for a band full of fun, upbeat pop gems, Funeral Suits won’t be the band for you, although their name probably gives that away. They do, however, make dark, broody and interesting songs with seemingly minimal effort.

Their music is expansive without being overblown, heavy without being menacing and all the more thrilling for its restraint. We briefly highlighted them as ones to watch The Great Escape festival preview and their debut single, the oddly enchanting and extremely hypnotic 'Colour Fade', came out not long after - on May 29th through Friends vs Records.

They have since finished recording their debut album with acclaimed producer Stephen Street (best known for his work with Blur and The Smiths) which is due to be released later in the year. Download a radio session version of 'Adventures Misadventures' below, courtesy of Phantom.ie.
