Remixed: Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen (Blood Diamonds Remix)

Remixed is a column that will highlight remixes we actually think are worthy of praise, be they old or new. Because most remixes are rubbish. // Words: Saam Das

A lot of people got excited when Surrey singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding started collaborating with electronic producer Starsmith. I wasn't quite as hyped, although I did rather enjoy the chorus to her breakout single 'Starry Eyed'. Here she indirectly collaborates with another electronic producer, Blood Diamonds, and the result is fist-pumpingly triumphant.

'Anything Could Happen' is the first single from Goulding's new album, 'Halcyon', the follow-up to her successful debut record, 2010's 'Lights'. Blood Diamonds is not a drastic deviation from the electro-pop bombast of the original but subtly metamorphoses 'Anything Could Happen' into a joyfully infectious anthem.

Certainly one of my favourite remixes of all time, up there with the likes of Clock Opera's take on 'I Am Not A Robot' and I Am Harlequin's orchestral 'Don't Stop Me Now' offering. Listen to the Ellie Goulding original below along with the Blood Diamonds remix of 'Anything Could Happen.
