Santogold Live Lounge

Miss Santi White aka Santogold stock continues to rise. Since I featured her Jools Holland performance [here] in May, she's appeared in the "Converse song" with Pharrell NERD and Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas (see embed below) and is now supporting Coldplay on their current North American tour shows she's not all hype after all. Or the hype shows no signs of faltering. I prefer to think it's the former.

I've got her BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge performance here, with new UK single 'Lights Out' and a cover of Adele's only good song. I say good but let's not beat around the bush - it's ace [YouTube]. Santogold's bleak interpretation carries similar sentiment to the original but lacks the punch of Adele's vocals and the magic of a piano. Santi's much more suited to her new wave/post punk and 'Lights Out' is a pulsating slice of eighties powerpop.

p.s new podcast out soon. Podcast#4 (featuring the likes of 4 Or 5 Magicians, Elle S'Appelle and Kevin Drew of BSS) expiring on Tuesday, listen/download [here].
