Split Festival (17-18 September, Sunderland) // Words: Emily Solan

Now in its third year, The Futureheads' curated festival has brought out its best line up to date when it hits Ashbrooke Sports Club on the 17th and 18th September. We're on hand to preview some of the excellent line up below.

Saturday’s line-up sees headliners The Drums bring their surf-tinged pop to the not so sunshine-y Northeast, sure to put a summery smile on even the most rained upon punter. Alongside this, other Saturday treats include the incredible Dutch Uncles, bringing the art-rock of their debut to Wearside.

Couple that with up and coming acts, including B>E>A>K and We Beat The System, it already appeared well worth your hard-earned money - even more so now with FG faves Spector, Vinyl Jacket, Beth Jeans Houghton and Mystery Jets all added to the bill.

And that’s not even considering Sunday. Headlined by Manchester baggy indie heroes The Charlatans, with second billing going to none other than local success stories Frankie & The Heartstrings. The Futureheads are represented by the fantastic side project Hyde & Beast, and a whole host of other acts, such as Ganglians, Leatherface, The Dauntless Elite and Tomahawks For Targets, and many more to be confirmed.

And it’s not even one of those festivals that will bankrupt. An Early Bird weekend ticket will cost you just £38.50 (including fees) or if you just fancy one day, that’s a steal, priced at only £22. Fancy a little bit of luxury? Shell out for a Friend of Split ticket, and that will get you into the dedicated area, with it very own bar service, alongside some exclusive Split Merchandise. And don’t forget, under-11’s get in free too.

Bring one, bring all, as this year’s Split Festival looks to be the best yet. I’ll see all you lucky folks at Ashbrooke then?
