Last year, Nika Roza Danilova aka Zola Jesus was invited to perform at the world famous Guggenheim museum in New York. It resulted in a quite incredible collaboration between Nika and JG Thirwell, who brought an orchestral overtone to her existing electronic music. Such was the strength of their combined work that an album of those efforts is set to come out in August, led by the haunting 'Avalanche (Slow)'.

Clichéd this description may be, but 'Avalanche (Slow)' is a work of stunning beauty. Nika's vocals, as ever, are striking but it is the instrumentation here that arguably proves transcendent. Perhaps most surprising and pleasing is the quietly uplifting nature that results - an exciting sign for the rest of the reworked tracks set to appear on the 'Versions' album in August.
