No, the likes of William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge haven't made a 'Bill & Ted'-esque return. This version of The Lake Poets is the moniker that Sunderland solo artist Martin Longstaff has been plugging away with for a while - but he's only now releasing his debut EP, 'Honest Hearts'. Listen to a couple of tracks from the EP below, with particular deference to the melodramatic 'Windowsill'.

The EP is a notable point in Longstaff's career, not just for being his debut - he's also expanded his previously solely acoustic sound, with the help of co-producer Mick Ross. Kicking off in Alt-J territory, 'Windowsill' transforms into something darker, heightened by the accompanying strings. Agoraphobia and unrequited love are the lyrical themes, matched by the haunting music and vocals.

'Honest Hearts' is released on June 16th. Find more info at thelakepoets.com.
