Camden Crawl (20-21 June '14, London) // Words: Glen Byford
Festivals mean different things to different people, to me, a festival should be filled with a certain amount of discovery, and perhaps I have lost touch with the current music scene but with very few names on the bill resonating strongly with me, and with some 100 or so bands and artists appearing across 22 venues on Saturday alone, I have got plenty of discovering to do.

The Camden Crawl took an unexpected rest last year, returning this year in a new slot in the calendar, rebranding itself CC14. Much was the same as previous years however, with a strong selection of bands across multiple venues in the Camden area - although arguably somewhat reduced in scope. Headliners of the stature of Atari Teenage Riot and The Field being the contradictory evidence. I've always preferred checking out the smaller bands, however, and here's my take on day one of the festival.

Having returned in the mid-noughties following an extended breather, London's Camden Crawl again last year took a step back. After a period of re-evaluation, the festival is back this year at over twenty venues in the Camden area. The 2014 line up is headed by the likes of ABC, Atari Teenage Riot, and The Field - we're not so interested in them but have a selection of recommended acts to check out below.

Building on a relatively successful day one of the 2012 Camden Crawl, things got off to less of a joyous start on the Sunday as not one but two passenger emergency alarms on a Northern Line tube scuppered my attempts to catch a low-key Charli XCX performance in the Crawl's media hub. But with plenty of other bands to see over the day, that was only a minor setback. For chat about those bands and an overview of the festival, keep reading below.

Camden Crawl (4-6 May 2012) // Words: Saam Das
Last year, I somehow managed to see twenty bands across two days of the Camden Crawl. This year, I didn't quite get that far but came surprisingly close. Here's something of a chronological splurge of my wanderings around Camden on the Saturday of the festival (which followed the opening night's Koko event, somewhat separate from the Crawl itself).

The 2012 Camden Crawl draws ever closer, kicking off this Friday with a party at Koko, headlined by Death In Vegas but also featuring the likes of Funeral Suits. The real party begins on Saturday however, as a mass of bands play across dozens of venues in the NW1 area, along with other events such as comedy and spoken word. We've compiled ten of our suggested highlights of the festival below.

Day 2 of my 2011 Gaymers Camden Crawl experience. Day 1 went pretty well and I managed to catch eight or so bands that I'd never seen before in amongst some minor japery. I was determined on Day 2 to go one step further and check out even more new bands. I'm pleased to report that I managed that feat.

Day 1 of my first ever Camden Crawl didn't start off especially well, when I discovered there would be severe delays on my tube journey in. And then when I actually got to the HMV Forum to pick up my Crawl pass, an overzealous door person made me walk through their unwieldy queue system WHEN I WAS THE ONLY BLOODY PERSON TRYING TO GET IN. After that though, I actually had a rather splendid time. For the most part.
