Why bother publishing a ones to watch/tips for 2016 list mid-way through March? Well, because a) the early year hype has died down, and b) because we can and want to support artists that deserve some added attention. And c) because we're mavericks. That said, three of our following ten bands to watch for 2016 did appear in our nominations for January's Blog Sound Of 2016, although only one of my chosen acts made it to the long list.

The dust seems to be settling on the annual start-of-year buzz, captured by the likes of the BBC Sound Of and Blog Sound Of polls. In our experience, many music fans turn their noses up at those type of polls, and while we don't, we also understand the ambivalence. Hopefully this list will be more appealing, and regardless, our offerings our acts that we really hope will deliver big things both critically and commercially.

It might be March but we are still going forward with our tips for the year. Letting the dust settle after the glut of "ones to watch" lists to have already appeared gives us more time to reflect and consider our choices. For example, Palma Violets were celebrated in certain corners as the best thing to happen to guitar music since guitars. But they're not in our list. Find out who is below.
