Following on from part one of my top forty tracks of 2015, comes...errr...part two. As usual, the general rules are maximum one track per artist, and the song should have been released or premiered as an individual track in 2015. Check out #20-#1 below, and scroll to the bottom for a Spotify playlist.

Originally, this was going to be a list of top ten tracks of 2015. Then a top twenty of 2015. Now it's a chart-worthy top 40. Apparently there's just been too many good songs this year. Not a bad problem to have. Some ground rules: only one track per artist, and all tracks should have been released (or had their videos published) in 2015 for the first time.

As is now traditional, here's my view of the best of 2015 – twenty albums, in a loose interpretation of the term, featured in reverse order. We’ve posted albums 20 – 11 (featuring the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sir Richard Bishop) and now the final countdown, complete with Spotify playlist (embedded below). Enjoy!

There’s been so much good music this year that JSBX, Kristin McClement, Sleater-Kinney, Fuzz, British Sea Power and many others didn’t make the cut. We hope the 20 records that did will entertain you nonetheless:

Turns out that Radiohead were asked to write a theme tune for the latest Bond movie, 'Spectre', after all. For better or for worse, the people behind the film chose to go with Sam Smith's perhaps unfairly maligned (albeit absurdly melodramatic) 'Writing On The Wall' but now you can hear for yourself whether that was a suitable decision or not. Listen to the discarded 'Spectre' as well as Smith's official effort below.

Simon FG's normally the one who tackles heavier (or is that heavy-set?) bands, but every now and then, one comes along that particularly takes my fancy. We featured London duo Tiny Giant back in our preview for Reading's excellent other festival Are You Listening? back in April, and with new recordings now online, they look set to take on 2016.
