Bushstock Festival @ various venues across Shepherd's Bush, London (10 June 2017) // Words: Saam Das

Now firmly established as one of London's finest one-day festivals, the Communion Records-run Bushstock once again descends on Shepherd's Bush. The festival typically has a strong dedication to new music, much like the mid-noughties clubnights that spawned the Communion brand, previously featuring on-the-rise acts such as Bastille and Daughter before they hit big. We've highlighted a few of our choice bands from the 2017 line up below:

We really enjoyed York singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich's debut album, 'Last Smoke Before The Snow Storm', which came out last summer. He's just begun his latest UK tour which precedes an extensive jaunt in North America. If you can't make it along to any of the dates, you can instead enjoy a selection of covers by Mr Leftwich, including a woozy version of 'Swim Until You Can't See Land'. Listen below.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich music

Benjamin Francis Leftwich has been putting out singles at an almost alarming rate lately. Not that he's putting out duds. Far from it. 'Box Of Stones' was our single of the month for June, while the recently re-released 'Atlas Hands' already won our hearts at the start of the year. 'Shine' is another gloriously heartfelt acoustic offering.

June, you have disappointed me with your relative lack of brilliant singles. Anything, however, is better than Cher Lloyd's upcoming single, 'Swagger Jagger'. I weep for humanity. Check out ten MUCH BETTER singles from last month below, and the photo above is a hint to our single of the month winner.
