I never quite got on as much as I'd hoped with Manchester mavericks WU LYF, with their obtuse and carefully crafted aura, but it was still a disappointment when they disbanded. The driving force behind the split was frontman Ellery James Roberts, who returned with the incredible 'Kerou's Lament' in June 2013. He's back again, this time with a helping hand.

As we settle into the year, it could be argued that this column is a good few months late. I would argue that we have only just touched the tip of what 2015 has to offer in television land. Here are just some of the shows that will be making an appearance in 2015, fingers crossed!

Mancunian quartet PALE WAVES have been bubbling under for a year or so, previously as Creek, and now they're making a splash (...sorry) with their latest track 'The Tide'. Taking on more of a polished note than the demo of 'Lust' that caught the attention of some early adopters in 2014, 'The Tide' takes some of the vibrant sounds that have led the likes of The 1975 and Peace to popularity.

Chris Cookson popped up late last year in his solo guise, with the seemingly timeless 'Pillow Talk', matching majestic strings with Cookson's serene vocals. New track 'Sophia' appeared this afternoon, taking more of a shimmering, synth-based approach. Listen to both tracks below.

Hotshot producer Diplo put on a Valentine's special this weekend, recruiting Canadian artist Ryan Hemsworth to lead proceedings with a mix on his BBC Radio 1xtra show, 'Diplo And Friends'. One of the undoubted highlights of the mix was his synth-heavy remix of blink-182's classic 'Feeling This', a live staple which is well deserving of a wider platform.

Expanding his sound, and working with such esteemed musicians as Nico Muhly, gave London folk artist Daniel Pattison a new lease of life - metamorphosing into HART. He's successfully captured the intimacy of early Bon Iver on his debut track, 'Anchor', despite a string (pun intended) of other elements.

Fair play to the people working on Sasha Siem's debut album for this timely preview, via closing track 'Valentine'. We've been meaning to write about the London-based artist for a long time now, and this seems a good a time as any, with said release 'Most Of The Boys' due out in early March. Check out her contemporary classical stylings below.

You may recall Sylva Faye, who we featured last year with her bewitching experimental folk offerings. (If not, you've missed out.) Either way, she's come back in a new guise, SYŁVA, with added band in tow. Listen to her new material below.

It's been a couple of years since the last album from Canadian outfit Braids, and a couple more years since I saw the band play in a weird bar on Brighton pier at The Great Escape 2011. They're back with the Purity Ring-esque 'Miniskirt', the first taste of album number three, April's 'Deep In The Iris'.

Since the news of BBC Three potentially closing down and turning into an online channel, I have wondered why the BBC would make such a decision. Yes, they have cuts to make since their budget has been reduced, however I am sure other cuts could have been made considering the channel's popularity. With the likelihood of BBC three departing, I thought I would highlight some of the best shows to come out of BBC Three.

Writer Alex Garland's debut directorial feature 'Ex Machina' was recently released in UK cinemas, and now we have the news that the film's soundtrack is set for release on April 10th. Composed by Ben Salisbury and Portishead's Geoff Barrow, the ominous soundtrack helped set the tone for what became an increasingly creepy drama. Listen to an edit of 'Hacking/Cutting' from the film's soundtrack below.

The biggest surprise of my Glastonbury 2014 wasn't the sheer amount of people watching Dolly Parton on telly in the hospitality area when she was performing just round the corner, but just how wonderfully witty and engaging Public Service Broadcasting were. A quite stunning live performance from a largely instrumental outfit. Their mesmerising new track 'The Other Side' is perhaps their best yet.
