From Iain Woods' psychologist album released on 1st January 2015 to Archy Marshall's King Krule follow-up released as December drew to a close, 2015 was certainly an interesting year for album releases. The less you know about 'Room' (★★★★, 8/10), the better. Admittedly, director Lenny Abrahamson disagrees, hence the film's publicity (although not the video posted below) revealing significant plot details. However, we'll let you make the decision to investigate further or not.
In Cinemas: 'Room' (2015) + 'The Assassin' (2015)

I was going to launch into some sort of tenuous diatribe regarding British royalty and new outfit THRONES, but all you really need to know is that they're a three piece that split their time between London and Reading. Listen to their compelling debut track 'Hands' below, with its shades of The 1975.

Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? And, more to the point, who doesn’t love Chris Pratt? This ambitious revisiting of the celebrated franchise was a true CGI-fest with a couple of questionable plot holes – but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable, particularly when combined with popcorn.
10: 'Jurassic World'

It was difficult to separate this from Tobias Jesso Jr’s 'Without You' for the final spot in my top 10. But I went for 'Night Song' - it’s a stunningly beautiful ballad from a brilliant album. When she sings heartbreakingly “What did I do to make you feel so bad?’, forgiveness is inevitable.

It's been almost a year since we've heard from London solo artist Chris Cookson, but he's opened 2016 with a bang. New track 'Wild' is a bit of a departure from the more nostalgia-driven 'Pillow Talk' and 'Sophia', which marked Cookson as one to watch. Listen to the new demo below.

Yesterday's part one of my top twenty TV shows of 2015 contained the likes of big US superhero offerings 'Arrow' and 'Daredevil', as well as 'No Offence' and 'The Great British Bake Off' from closer to home. Finishing off the list, here are my top ten programmes from the past year.

2015 what a year it has been from Madonna falling off the stage on The Brits, Caitlyn Jenner stealing the Karadashian crown, the Hatton Garden Heist and ‘emojis’ becoming multi-cultured and no longer being Simpsons characters. Television has also been at its best in 2015, and here's the first part of my top twenty countdown of 2015's best TV shows.

When an artist lays bear their emotions and experiences so explicitly, the result can often be uncomfortable and overwhelming. 'Carrie And Lowell' avoids this fate, with Sufjan delivering a truly elegant record that is moving and memorable.
