Some of you may remember us featuring the debut single from Erika Spring last year. '6 More Weeks' was a beautifully constructed, joyful pop song that was a strong first outing for Spring as a solo artist. Having had formidable success as one-third of Au Revoir Simone, a Brooklyn based dream-pop outfit playing upbeat keyboard-based electronic music, Spring returns with the launch of her self-titled debut solo EP.

Our enjoyment of Cyrus Shahrad's hypnotic production work under the guise of Hiatus has been steadily increasing, and his latest efforts, combining with Matt Falloon of Smoke Feathers proves no different. Their collaborative EP, 'Change Up', is released today and available to listen below.

We've been keeping a close eye on Ireland's Funeral Suits for a little while now, and this week saw the release of their debut album, 'Lily Of The Valley'. The band worked with Stephen Street (famed producer of Blur and The Smiths among others) to create a record that combines dark electronica, heavy indie rock and anthemic pop. Even throwing in an acoustic track halfway through to keep listeners on their toes.

I've always wondered what it'd be like to have synaesthesia - a condition where you may, for example, see musical notes as different colours. Unfortunately I do not. But I imagine ethereal Australian producer Oliver Tank's music would resemble some sort of breathtaking rainbow. Hence why he is one of our musical tips for 2012. His debut EP, 'Dreams', is now out on vinyl and can be streamed in full below.

Thanks to the good folks at the Hype Machine, you can listen to the new Friendly Fires album, 'Pala', ahead of its UK and US (May 24th) release dates. It's the follow up to their Mercury nominated self-titled debut, and continues along in the dance vein of its predecessor. You can also download a track from the album for the price of an email address.

Not many bands have the chutzpah to open their new album with an 11 minute track. But New Yorkers Gang Gang Dance clearly aren't just any band. They've even collaborated with Tinchy Stryder despite their background in experimental electropop. Steam the new album in full below.

Following up on their much acclaimed self-titled debut record, Fleet Foxes return with 'Helplessness Blues', released at the start of May. A slightly more ambitious brand of delectable folk this time round. Stream the whole thing in full below to see what you think, and there's also a free download of the title track up for grabs.

Back in October, I told you all about an exciting new Northern band called Mammal Club, comparing them favourably to Foals and Everything Everything. Well, they've just announced their debut EP release, which you can listen to in full below. And you should because it's really quite good.

Cold Cave released their new (heavily 80s electro inspired) album 'Cherish The Light Years' last Monday and you can listen to it in full below. There's also a free download of the album's hyperactive opener, 'The Great Pan Is Dead', courtesy of the Matador Records blog.

I haven't really kept up with Irish "indie rockers" Bell X1 since their bass-tastic single 'Tongue' - surprisingly co-written by Damien Rice, who used to play with the band when they were known as Juniper. Anyway, they're upto album number five now and you can stream the album in full below.

I wrote about Johnny Foreigner way back in 2007 or something. I'm pretty sure I compared their anthemic nature to early Bloc Party. I imagine they had a good lol about that. I meant well though.
Anyway, fast-forward a few years and they have a new EP (well, released in November) out on the stupendous Alcopop! label. And a talented bloke called J Matthew Nix has put together a rather brilliant video for one of the songs on the EP, 'Harriet, By Proxy'. But what's really interesting about this is that instead of making it an "exclusive" (I dislike this term) on a popular website, they've put the video up for download here and told everyone to spread the love. So I went and uploaded it to UToob and you can watch the embed below.
